Consider how powerful of a flash you want and what features (auto mode, two auto modes, variable manual power, bounce) and work from there So try out such a flash on your K1000 before you buy it The k1000 needs shutter speed to be set at 1/60 - there should be an "x" on the dial indicating it - for the flash to trigger
